Occasionally I faced the article on a blog about influence of the darkness and light on our organisms that is why I decided to deep into it and read why happens in our bodies. Here is what I found:The darkness leads to stresses - was the title of an article which I have found on the web. The darkness materially strengthens the stresses and makes the recovery after them really difficult. That is why the stresses of autumn and of winter superimposed bring to the lingering depression. The human dislike for the twilight and darkness reaching sometimes the degree of the involuntary fear considerably increases the negative influence which one has from the social stresses. According to the anthropologists people suffer such stresses during the whole time of wake - in average 17 hours a day. The American scientists believe that such pressure on the psyche cannot be without leaving a trace and n wonder that the depression became a so much widespread phenomenon.During the researches Dr. Christian Grillion and his colleagues from the American National Institute of the mental health found out that the involuntary, unconditioned by any rational prerequisites fear enhances the stress state of the person. The scientists performed an experiment of 3 stages. First they invited several healthy volunteers and checked the reflexes of each of them in the darkness and in the illuminated room. After tey repeated the experiment but before the repeated analysis of the organism's work the scientists modeled the situation of the public announcement for the volunteers which required certain efforts and for many connected with the serious social stress. Finally the experiment was repeated again but the volunteers underwent the special training aiming at the complete physical relax of the organism. After the stress situation and total relaxation the scientists observed the reflexes of the volunteers. As the marker of the organism's work and stress resistance Grillion used the reflex reaction of jerks. This complicated and involuntary reaction was measured as the response to the unexpected noise sent to the earphones of the volunteers. According to the scientists these tests allow to confirm: the fear of darkness considerably increases depression connected with the stress. "As the stress is linked with the increase of the quantity of the emotional frustration it is highly important to understand how it influences the organism and human behaviour", - Grillion said.As the editor of the magazine Biological Psychiatry John Crystall mentioned the authors demonstrated that the increase of the reaction intensity is affected both by the inherent dear of the darkness and by the social stresses. According to him the perfection of the methods applied by Grillion and his colleagues "can help to understand how to resist the influence of the stresses and fears and to help people with the mental disorder".
